Our Ranking Methodology

Our rankings are determined by a rating that each school gets from our formula. Our formula uses two statistics for each school (yearly tuition rate and graduation rate) to calculate this rating. Some schools charge in-state students less than non-resident students. Our formula only took the in-state tuition rate into account for these schools. The formula comes up with a rating by taking the yearly tuition rate and adding a multiplier that is equal to the percentage of students who enrolled but did not end up graduating. For example, University A has a yearly tuition rate of $30,000 and a graduation rate of 70%. Its rating would be 39,000 (30,000 x 130%). Schools with a lower rating will end up finishing higher on our list.
