Our Ranking Methodology
Our rankings are calculated using a formula that considers both the yearly tuition rate and graduation rate of each school. Some institutions (usually public institutions) charge higher tuition rates to non-resident students than they do to students who live in the state that houses the school’s main campus. For these institutions, we only looked at the in-state tuition rate. Once we ascertained the correct tuition figure, we added a multiplier equivalent to the percentage of students who did not graduate. For example, University A has a yearly tuition rate of $40,000 and a graduation rate of 90%. University A’s rating would be 44,000. Lower ratings are good, higher ratings are bad.
